GEORGE DENNISON - WAR-TIME SKETCHES
This is a selection of some of the drawings he made while on active service in the Far East. A Base Army Post Office was established in Calcutta to handle the British and African troops mail of the XIV Army. From there it was forwarded by rail to Imphal and then trucked or flown to the forward Field Post Offices. | ![]() Army Post Office, Imphal 1943 |

The staffing of FPOs were shared between both RE (PS) and the Indian Army Postal Services (IAPS). Due to the incidences of malaria among the RE (PS) personnel, many of the FPOs were manned entirely by IAPS staff while the RE (PS) staff recovered. | ![]() Field Post Office, Burma |
